How to Pack Your Wedding Details Box

Wedding details photos are some of my favorite photos to take on wedding day! But wedding details photos are very underrated and sometimes the details are underprepared for their closeups. These detail photos are usually taken at the beginning of the day, before any of the details (like rings, jewelry, and boutonnieres) are needed.

Many brides and grooms don’t know how to pack for their wedding detail shots – they don’t know what to include, and what they should leave out of their wedding details box. That’s why I’ve made this awesome resource for engaged couples getting ready for their wedding day! So if you’re looking for info on how to pack for your detail photos, read on!

Why are wedding detail photos so important?

You’ve spent so long planning every aspect of your wedding, loving every single detail you’ve put together to make your wedding day absolutely perfect. You have spend hours planning, preparing, and dreaming about every single detail, from the florals and shoes, to the place settings and jewelry. And those details deserve time in the spotlight! You deserve to remember every single gorgeous detail you put into your wedding day!

How to pack for wedding detail shots

As you are planning your wedding, find a box you can dedicate to your details for your photos. Each time you plan another detail that would go well in your detail photos, add it to the box! By the time your wedding rolls around, you’ll have your details collected all together and ready to go for your photographer.

On wedding day, you’ll give your photographer the box, as well as any other details that won’t fit in the box (such as the dress, bouquet, and veil). Once the detail photos are done, your photographer will give your details back, and your made of honor can disperse the items to wherever they need to be – for example, giving the boutonniere back to the groom, giving you your jewelry, and giving the rings back to whoever you have in charge of keeping track of the rings for the ringbearer.

So what should you put in your wedding details box for your detail photos? Check out the list!

Wedding details box checklist:

  • Wedding rings and bands
  • Ring boxes or ring dish
  • Shoes
  • Perfume/cologne
  • Jewelry – necklace, earrings, bracelets, etc.
  • Loose extra flowers
  • Boutonnieres/bouquet
  • Save the dates/invitations
  • Veil
  • Dress
  • Tie
  • Vow books
  • Cuff links
  • Tie clips
  • Garter
  • Watch
  • Any heirlooms you’d like included
  • Something borrowed, blue, old, and new
  • Anything else that is important to you for your wedding detail photos

You certainly don’t need to include all of these items as you pack for your wedding detail shots, but you are welcome to include all of them if you’d like! At the end of the day, your wedding details photos should include anything that is important to you on your wedding day!
